The Greatest Band You've (Probably) Never Heard
I had the immense pleasure of seeing The Wedding Present last night at NYC's Bowery Ballroom. They've been a favorite band of mine ever since The Transistor Widow's very own Will McRobb turned me on to them in the late '80s (the band released their first album in 1987).
Here's a video of what is arguably their most "famous" song: Brassneck. It's a Windows Media file and I apologize for the crappy sound (but because I love you, here's an audio mp3 of the song). For more videos, go here.
Although David Gedge, the band's leader and only original member, sports quite the not-really-fashionable "Echo & the Bunnymen" hairdo in the video, don't be misled into thinking he's a poseur. He's extremely original, a killer guitarist and he's all "growed up" as you can see in this brief clip from 2005.
